Milarepa Cave

Milarepa was an 11th century hermit who lived in the Himalayan Valley along Nepal and Tibet border.Mila"s deep compassion for the wildlife and love for wilderness fostered a spirit of harmony between man and nature in the Himalayas.
One of Milarepa"s cave is in Manang Valley in Braka village.Near the cave you can also see a bow hanging on the cliff of rock, according to the villagers the bow belonged to a villager named Karma Dorje who was a hunter. One day when he was hunting a deer and thought he hit the deer started chasing the deer with his Mountain dog, ofcourse his dog was faster than him, when he saw the dog and the deer sitting calm beside Milarepa he was scared and tried to shoot Milarepa with his bow ,then Milarepa told him ,wait before you kill me listen to what i have to say first. Then Milarepa started to teach him about dharma and after that he begged Milarepa how sorry he was and wanted to become his deciple and then threw his bow which got stuck on the cliff. You can also see Milarepa"s foot prints near the cave.

Manang valley

Manang valley is beneath the giant mountains of Annapurna's and is very rich in its culture.Manang valley is divided into two catogories like upper Manang valley and lower Manang valley. And i am going to share my knowledge of upper Manang valley with you.

Upper manang valley is divided into 6 villages and they are Pisang(3280m),Gyaru(3670m),Ngwal(3657m),Braka(3470m),Manang(3540m) and Khanskar(3738m).People from these villages are called Nyeshyangte (nye=us, shyang=historical place in Tibet) so its believed that ancestors of these valley decented from Tibet but some old people denies this and it kind of make sense because their is no simalirity in language.People are buddhist in this valley, there are lots of chortens, mani walls, prayers flags and yes monastries that are above 500 years old. This valley is famous for its rich culture, monastries, wildlife, highest lake(Tilicho lake) and its highest pass,Thorang La pass.
